Danny Pace Wins Round 4  of Dirt Wars

Corby was scheduled to host round 1 of Dirt Wars back in May, but the event was called off due to April’s atrocious weather causing severe flooding to the course. Four months later on the 8th of September the sun was shining and round 4 was about to commence.

The Dirt Wars jumps had only recently been made so were still a little soft. Riders had difficulty clearing the right hand line with the drop at the start so all eyes were on the left hand line for the majority of the day.

After a fierce contest Identiti Bikes rider Danny Pace won the Pro category with backflip variations on the first two jumps and a front flip no hander on the last. A flip whip helped Marcel Hunt secure second and with tricks including double truck drivers, Daryl Brown took the third spot.

In the Open category Freddy Pulman narrowly missed out on the top spot to Wig Lewington Booth, who impressed the judges with his consistent runs and huge tricks, including a backflip no hander and 360 whip on the last. Daniel Stewart took home a well deserved third place with his unique trick combinations.

Identiti Bikes Matt Jones won best whip and best trick with a superflip on the right hand line and Dirt Wars co-organiser and contestant Rob Newman won best crash alongside Richard Hemingray.

Other memorable moments included Richard Hemingray’s first backflip on dirt during his final qualifications run after a massive stack on his first attempt. The youngest competitor was Dylan Delsol at 13, yet despite his young age he put together some impressive runs with pendulums and truck drivers. This kid has a bright future.

With only one final confirmed round of Dirt Wars remaining the battle of series winner in Open category between Freddy Pulman and Wig Lewington Booth continues. In the pro category Marcel Hunt and Daryl Brown are currently at the top of the overall standings, but they aren’t sitting comfortably. The saga continues.
